Be a Global Citizen
There are many notions of what being a global citizen means. But most definitions that a global citizen:

  • is aware of the wider world and has a sense of their own role as a world citizen;
  • respects and values diversity;
  • has an understanding of how the world works economically, politically, socially, culturally, technologically and environmentally;
  • is outraged by social injustice;
  • participates in and contributes to the community at a range of levels from local to global;
  • is willing to act to make the world a more sustainable place;
  • takes responsibility for their actions.

Studying Geography is fun!!
Studying Geography can take you to distant lands and cultures. By learning about other people and places, you can more fully understand and appreciate your own hometown and your role in the world. You can develop valuable skills that can help you make sense of the patterns, distributions, and interactions among all the people and other living beings and their environments. You can learn how to use really cool tools like Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to study the landscapes and patterns that define who we are and what we do.

Make the World a Better Place
Learn to appreciate Earth as the home of humankind and provide insight for wise management decisions about how the planet’s resources should be used. Become knowledgeable (and critical) of current global trends in order to develop the skills to help eradicate social injustice, poverty, hunger, and environmental degradation. Studying Geography can help you develop the skills to make a difference in your community and on our planet

Get a Great Job
Agencies and businesses recognize that much of the information they manage is spatial in some way. Geographers are uniquely qualified to analyze spatial information and communicate the results of that analysis through maps. Geographers get hired for a wide variety jobs.
