Research

My current research focuses on development and testing of ion selective electrodes based on metal porphyrin complexes. Ion selective electrodes are useful in determining the concentration of specific ions in a solution. One of the best known examples of such an electrode system is the digital pH meter, a device used to measure the H+ concentration of aqueous solutions. Other applications could include monitoring of fluoride in drinking water and determination of the hardness of water samples.

This work will be carried out in conjunction with Professor Mark E. Meyerhoff at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
